Shortly after receiving his degree from the School of Architecture at Clemson University in 1990, William B. Litchfield (Bill) began his career in his hometown of Atlanta, Georgia in the office of David H. Hicks, Architect. In 1994, after working with David Hicks for three years, Bill decided to focus on his passion for classical residential architecture and period detailing by joining the firm of Norman Davenport Askins, Architect. Following a ten year edifying relationship with Norman D. Askins, Bill founded his own residential practice in 2005, William B. Litchfield Residential Designs, Inc.

William B. Litchfield Residential Designs, Inc. believes in the purity of different architectural styles and appropriate materials. The firm specializes in new custom period homes as well as renovations to existing residences. The firm tailors each design to meet the tastes and needs of the clients, with sensitivity to the site conditions and to the existing or desired architectural style. The firm distinguishes its designs by paying close attention to details, from custom windows, doors, and mouldings on the exterior to custom wall and ceiling treatments, cabinetry, and period mouldings on the interior of each residence relating to the overall style of the design. These custom details ensure consistency and integrity throughout each composition.

In 2016, William B. Litchfield Designs, Inc. was awarded two Philip T. Shutze Awards; one for a single family home renovation over 4,000 sf, and the other for a single family renovation 1,000-4,000 sf.
